The commercial Dobsonians we will be examining in this article have between 6 and 12 inches of aperture (except for the smaller tabletop dobsonians, which we will discuss briefly as well). (However, the cost of a good refractor is immense compared to a Dobsonian of the same size.)Īs a reminder, when we discuss telescopes, the important number is the aperture, or in this case, the diameter of the primary mirror.
